What is Banaba leaf ?

Banaba leaf comes from the bannaba shrub, or crape myrtle, an ornamental plant native to Australia, Southeast Asia, and India, and is also found in other warm climates around the world, including temperate regions of the United States, and is often referred to as crepe Myrtle. In addition to being used as an ornamental shrub, bannaba bushes are prized for their medicinal properties. Banaba leaf extract contains high levels of plant insulin known as corosolic acid. Research shows that naturally occurring corosolic acid in banaba leaves may improve blood sugar control in people with type 2 diabetes.
